- MailTheLog is an application that mails a sysop the contents
- of any file on a daily basis. This is intended for sysops
- who, for example, log in remotely, and want the log files
- in their mailbox - to read, and delete.
-
- MailTheLog must be part of the TabbyNet event chain (preferably
- as one of the last applications). It looks at any number
- of files, mails their content to any person on the BBS system,
- and deletes the file. It 'mails' by adding to the generic import
- file, and is therefore BBS independent.
-
- To set it up, copy it to the folder where your BBS and tabby
- applications reside. Using ResEdit, modify the following
- resources:
-
- STR 1 The name of your BBS application. This is the name of
- the application MailTheLog tries to launch when it cannot
- find the launch.next file, or when it cannot launch the next
- application in the event chain.
- STR 2 The pathname to the tabby work files, such as Generic
- Import.
- STR 3 The name to be used in the "From:" field of the mail
- message. Leave this what it is.
- STR 4 The name to be used in the "To:" field of the mail
- message. If you don't want the mail to go to the sysop,
- change this STR resource.
-
- STR# 1 This STR# resource contains the pathnames of the log
- files to be mailed.
-
-
- Next, put the application in your event chain.
